Burrowing mites feed on skin cells and extracellular fluid of their host.
Behavior Patterns
The female mite burrows into the skin to lay eggs. This creates the characteristic track-like burrows. They are highly contagious and spread through prolonged skin-to-skin contact.
Risks & Benefits
Risks: Causes scabies, a condition characterized by intense itching and rashes. Can lead to secondary skin infections from scratching. No ecological benefits to humans; considered a parasitic pest.
