Size: Typically 3 mm to 5 mm in length

Natural Habitat
Found in homes, particularly in dark, undisturbed areas like under furniture, in closets, along baseboards, and in carpets or wool clothing.
Diet & Feeding
Feeds on natural fibers and protein, including wool, silk, fur, feathers, hair, dead insects, and dried food products (grains/pet food).
Behavior Patterns
They avoid light and move relatively slowly. The larval stage is destructive as this is when they feed on fabrics. They often molt, shedding their skins which is a common sign of infestation.
Risks & Benefits
Risks: Can cause allergic dermatitis (rashes) in some people due to their bristly hairs; significant pests that damage clothing, carpets, and upholstery. Benefits: In nature, they act as decomposers of animal matter.
