Unidentified soil centipede (likely stone centipede)

Moist soil, leaf litter, rotting wood, compost, and beneath stones or containers. Often found in terrariums and gardens.

A nocturnal predator that eats small insects, mites, springtails, worms, and other soft-bodied invertebrates.

Fast-moving and secretive, hiding by day and hunting at night. It molts repeatedly as it grows and has one pair of legs per body segment.

Generally harmless to people; a defensive bite can cause localized pain or irritation but is rarely medically serious. Beneficial as a predator that helps control small soil pests.
