Orange lady beetle (likely Asian lady beetle)

Gardens, forests, crops, parks, and buildings; common on foliage with aphid colonies. Native to East Asia and widely introduced elsewhere.

Adults and larvae primarily eat aphids, scale insects, and other soft-bodied arthropods; they may also consume mites, insect eggs, nectar, and fruit.

Adults are active predators and aggregate in large numbers to overwinter, often inside buildings. Color and spotting vary greatly; larvae are dark, segmented, and spiny.

Beneficial biological-control predator of crop pests. It can bite or release a yellow, odorous defensive fluid, become a nuisance indoors, and occasionally trigger allergies.
