Natural Habitat

Primarily human dwellings, especially beds, mattresses, bed frames, and crevices in walls or furniture. Also found in hotels, public transportation, and other places where people rest.

Diet & Feeding

Exclusively blood-feeders. They feed on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals.

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal and highly secretive. They typically feed at night while hosts are sleeping. They hide in cracks and crevices during the day. Known for leaving characteristic bite marks (often in a line or cluster) and fecal spots (dark specks) on bedding.

Risks & Benefits

Potential risks include itchy bites leading to skin irritation, secondary infections from scratching, and psychological distress from infestation. They are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no known benefits.
