Silverfish (likely firebrat-type bristletail)

Humid indoor areas such as bathrooms, basements, wall voids, and storage spaces; also found outdoors under bark and debris.

Feeds on carbohydrates and starchy or cellulose-rich materials, including paper, book bindings, glue, textiles, and crumbs; it may also consume molds and dead insects.

Nocturnal, fast-running, and wingless; it hides in cracks during daylight. Development is gradual, with young resembling small adults, and individuals may live for several years.

Harmless to people and pets and does not transmit disease. It can damage paper, wallpaper, fabrics, and stored materials, while modestly contributing to decomposition outdoors.
