Natural Habitat
Indoor, dark and humid areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, basements, wall voids, and beneath flooring. Some species prefer warm, dry rooms instead.

Feeds on carbohydrates and starchy materials, including paper, book bindings, wallpaper paste, fabrics, and crumbs; it may also consume dead insects.
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal, fast-moving, and able to hide in narrow cracks. It is wingless, molts throughout adulthood, and develops gradually without a pupal stage.
Risks & Benefits
Usually harmless to people and does not transmit disease, but larger infestations can damage paper, fabrics, and stored materials. It contributes modestly to decomposition and serves as prey for spiders and other predators.
