Natural Habitat

Colonies occur on the undersides of leaves and tender stems, especially on garden plants, shrubs, and trees.

Diet & Feeding

Feeds by piercing plant tissue and sucking phloem sap. It may excrete sticky honeydew that supports sooty mold and attracts ants.

Behavior Patterns

Often clusters in colonies and reproduces rapidly, with winged forms dispersing when plants become crowded or stressed. Many species alternate between sexual and asexual generations.

Risks & Benefits

Can cause curled, yellowed, or stunted growth and may transmit plant viruses. They also provide food for lady beetles, lacewings, hoverfly larvae, and parasitoid wasps.
