Cockroach nymph, likely German cockroach

Warm, humid indoor areas—especially kitchens, bathrooms, wall voids, and around appliances. It commonly hides in cracks near food and water sources.

Omnivorous scavengers that eat crumbs, grease, starches, sweets, cardboard, and other organic residues. They may also consume soap, glue, and dead insects.

Mostly nocturnal, fast-running, and strongly light-avoiding; they hide communally and reproduce rapidly indoors. Nymphs develop through several molts and lack fully developed wings.

They can spread bacteria mechanically and contaminate food, while shed skins and droppings may aggravate allergies and asthma. They provide little household benefit, though they recycle organic matter outdoors.
