Household Casebearer (Plaster Bagworm)

Natural Habitat

Typically found inside houses, humidity-rich areas, and on walls or under furniture where dust and pet hair accumulate.

Diet & Feeding

The larvae feed on spider webs, wool, human or pet hair, and natural fibers like silk.

Behavior Patterns

The larva constructs a protective silk case covered in sand, dust, and debris. It can poke its head out of either end to move or feed, and eventually attaches to a wall to pupate into a small moth.

Risks & Benefits

Generally considered a minor household pest. Risks include cosmetic damage to natural fiber fabrics or clothing; they are harmless to humans and pets. They help 'clean up' spider webs and stray hairs in the environment.
