Likely adult carpet beetle (black carpet beetle type)

Indoors, especially carpets, closets, upholstery, stored textiles, and dusty cracks. Adults may occur near windows and light sources.

Larvae consume keratin-rich materials such as wool, fur, feathers, hair, dead insects, and occasionally natural fabrics. Adults mainly feed on pollen and nectar or may eat little.

Adults are oval, dark, and often attracted to light; larvae are hairy and hide in undisturbed areas. Larval feeding causes irregular holes and shed larval skins in fabrics.

Not dangerous to people and do not bite, but larvae can damage clothing, carpets, and taxidermy. They also help decompose animal-derived organic matter outdoors.
