Booklouse (psocid)

Humid indoor areas, especially books, cardboard, stored food, and damp wood or plaster. The image is too indistinct for species-level identification.

Feeds mainly on microscopic mold, fungi, algae, and organic residues; it does not bite people or bore into wood.

Moves slowly or intermittently across surfaces and thrives in warm, humid conditions. Populations can increase rapidly in damp buildings, but adults are short-lived.

Harmless to humans, pets, and structures, though large numbers can contaminate stored foods and indicate excess moisture or mold. It contributes modestly to decomposition and nutrient cycling.
