Natural Habitat

Human dwellings, specifically in cracks, crevices, bedding, and furniture near sleeping areas.

Diet & Feeding

Obligate hematophagous (feeds exclusively on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals).

Behavior Patterns

Nocturnal, hiding during the day and emerging at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis (egg, nymph stages, adult). The image appears to show a translucent nymph which takes on a reddish-brown color after feeding.

Risks & Benefits

Risks include itchy skin welts, allergic reactions, and psychological distress. While they carry pathogens, they are not known to transmit diseases to humans. There are no ecological benefits in a domestic human setting.
