Natural Habitat

Common indoors in dark, quiet areas such as corners, basements, garages, ceilings, and behind furniture; also found in sheltered outdoor spaces.

Diet & Feeding

Feeds on small insects, mites, and other spiders caught in its irregular, three-dimensional web. It may also attack prey much larger than itself.

Behavior Patterns

Builds loose, tangled webs and vibrates rapidly when disturbed, making it difficult for predators to target. Females carry a small egg bundle in their jaws until hatching.

Risks & Benefits

Harmless to people and not medically significant. Beneficial indoors because it consumes flies, mosquitoes, moths, and pest spiders.
