Natural Habitat
Found worldwide in and around human structures, specifically in dark, damp areas like basements, cellars, and corners of outbuildings.
Diet & Feeding
Carnivorous; feeds primarily on small insects and other arachnids that become trapped in its flat, sheet-like web.
Behavior Patterns
They build non-sticky horizontal sheet webs with a funnel-shaped retreat at one end. They are mostly nocturnal and can survive for long periods without food or water.
Risks & Benefits
Generally harmless to humans; they are not aggressive and their venom is not medically significant. They provide the benefit of natural pest control by eating flies and moths.
