Diet & Feeding
Herbivorous; it feeds on the sap of young shoots and the developing seeds of Malvaceae plants like hibiscus and cotton.
Behavior Patterns
They undergo incomplete metamorphosis with several colorful nymphal stages. Females exhibit maternal care by guarding their eggs. They are known for their striking iridescent coloration which can range from orange to bright blue-green.
Risks & Benefits
Generally considered a pest to ornamental hibiscus and commercial cotton crops. They do not bite humans but can emit a foul-smelling liquid if disturbed.
