Natural Habitat

Warm, dry indoor areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, furniture, wall voids, and appliances; unlike many cockroaches, it does not require high humidity.

Diet & Feeding

An omnivorous scavenger feeding on crumbs, grease, starches, sweets, dead insects, and occasionally glue or book bindings.

Behavior Patterns

Primarily nocturnal, fast-running, and adept at hiding in narrow cracks. Females glue egg cases to sheltered surfaces; populations can spread through furniture and appliances.

Risks & Benefits

May contaminate food and surfaces and can spread allergen-containing droppings and shed skins that aggravate allergies or asthma. It has no meaningful household benefit, though it participates in decomposition outdoors.
