Confused flour beetle or Red flour beetle
Scientific Name: Tribolium confusum or Tribolium castaneum
Order & Family: Order: Coleoptera, Family: Tenebrionidae
Size: 3 to 6 mm (1/8 to 1/4 inch) in length

Natural Habitat
Pantries, grain storage facilities, flour mills, and other areas where stored food products are kept.
Diet & Feeding
Dry food products such as flour, cereal, cornmeal, crackers, beans, spices, pasta, and even museum specimens. Their feeding behavior involves chewing through packaging and contaminating food with waste.
Behavior Patterns
These beetles are nocturnal and often hide in crevices of food packaging or pantry shelves. They have a high reproductive rate and can complete their life cycle in as little as 4 to 5 weeks in warm conditions.
Risks & Benefits
While they do not bite, sting, or carry diseases that affect humans, they are major pests of stored grains. Infestations can cause significant economic loss and make food products unpalatable due to the secretions of benzoquinones, which create a disagreeable odor and taste.
