Indoors, especially carpets, closets, upholstered furniture, and stored textiles; adults often occur near windows and flowers.

Larvae consume keratin-rich materials such as wool, fur, feathers, hair, and dead insects. Adults feed mainly on pollen and nectar.

Larvae hide in dark, undisturbed areas and molt repeatedly, leaving hairy or papery cast skins; adults are active fliers and seek light. The pictured object is too blurred for certain identification.

Larvae can damage natural-fiber clothing, carpets, and museum specimens, and their hairs may irritate sensitive skin or airways. They recycle animal-derived organic debris, while adults pollinate some flowers.
