Bed bug (likely, possibly a crushed specimen)

Bedrooms and other indoor areas, especially mattress seams, bed frames, upholstery, and cracks near sleeping hosts.

Feeds exclusively on blood, primarily from humans but also other warm-blooded animals. It usually feeds at night and hides afterward.

Wingless, reddish-brown, flattened insects that hide communally and become more active in darkness. Females lay eggs in protected crevices; infestations spread mainly through luggage, furniture, clothing, and adjoining rooms.

Not known to transmit disease reliably, but bites can cause itching, allergic reactions, and sleep disruption; infestations are difficult and costly to eradicate. They provide little meaningful household or ecosystem benefit.
