Diet & Feeding
Adults are omnivorous scavengers that consume food scraps, starches, grease, paper, and organic debris. The pictured object is an egg case and does not feed.
Behavior Patterns
Females produce ridged, dark-brown oothecae containing multiple eggs and deposit or glue them in protected sites. Cockroaches are mainly nocturnal and hide during daylight.
Risks & Benefits
They can mechanically spread bacteria, contaminate food, and contribute to allergy or asthma symptoms. They provide limited scavenging and nutrient-recycling benefits but are generally unwanted indoors.
