Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding
Keratin-rich animal fibers including wool, silk, fur, feathers, and leather; they also consume lint, dust, and pet hair.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae are photophobic (avoid light) and often spin silken tunnels or mats to stay hidden while feeding. They undergo a complete metamorphosis from egg to larva, pupa, and finally adult moth.
Risks & Benefits
Risks: Destructive pests that cause permanent damage to clothing, upholstery, and carpets. They have no known benefits to the indoor ecosystem and are considered significant household pests.
