Warm, humid indoor areas—especially kitchens, bathrooms, wall voids, and around appliances or plumbing.

Omnivorous scavengers that consume food crumbs, grease, starches, cardboard, glue, and other organic residues.

Mostly nocturnal, fast-running, and prone to hiding in cracks during daylight. Females carry egg cases, allowing populations to build rapidly indoors.

Can contaminate food and surfaces and may spread microbes; shed skins and droppings can worsen allergies and asthma. They provide little household benefit, though they serve as prey for other animals.
