Natural Habitat
Human dwellings, specifically in cracks and crevices of bed frames, mattresses, and furniture near sleeping areas.
Diet & Feeding
Obligate hematophagous (feeds exclusively on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals).
Behavior Patterns
Nocturnal and elusive; they hide during the day and emerge at night to feed. They leave behind dark spots of digested blood (fecal spotting) as seen in the image.
Risks & Benefits
Risk: Causes itchy bites, allergic reactions, and significant psychological distress; they are not known to transmit diseases to humans. Benefits: None.
