Diet & Feeding

Primarily feed on dead human and animal skin flakes (dander), as well as other organic debris.

Behavior Patterns

Dust mites are microscopic arachnids that are invisible to the naked eye. They do not bite, sting, or burrow into skin. They prefer dark, warm, and humid environments and reproduce quickly. Their fecal pellets and body fragments are the primary source of allergens.

Risks & Benefits

Potential risks include triggering allergic reactions in sensitive individuals, leading to asthma, eczema, and allergic rhinitis. They are not known to provide any direct benefits to humans or the ecosystem in a domestic setting.
