Natural Habitat

Warm, humid buildings, especially kitchens, bathrooms, and areas near food, water, and appliances.

Diet & Feeding

An omnivorous scavenger that eats food scraps, grease, starches, adhesives, and other organic material.

Behavior Patterns

Primarily nocturnal, fast-running, and strongly associated with human structures. Females carry egg cases until shortly before hatching, enabling rapid population growth.

Risks & Benefits

Can contaminate food and surfaces and spread allergens that trigger asthma and allergies. It has little meaningful household benefit, though it participates in decomposition outdoors.
