Natural Habitat
Typically found indoors in dark, undisturbed areas like closets, attics, and underneath furniture.
Diet & Feeding
Larvae feed on natural animal fibers including wool, silk, hair, feathers, and fur. They do not eat synthetic fabrics.
Behavior Patterns
The larva builds a silk case encrusted with fibers from the material it is eating, which it carries around for protection. They are most active in low-light environments and the larvae crawl slowly along surfaces with their heads protruding from the case.

Benefits: None related to humans. Risks: Serious pest of household goods and textiles; they can cause significant damage to expensive clothing, rugs, and upholstery by chewing irregular holes in fibers.
