Grass Spider
Scientific Name: Agelenopsis spp.
Order & Family: Araneae, Agelenidae
Size: Typically 10-20 mm for females and 9-16 mm for males (body length).

Natural Habitat
Commonly found in grassy areas, gardens, yards, and sometimes indoors, especially in basements or along walls.
Diet & Feeding
Insectivorous. Grass spiders primarily feed on a variety of small insects that become ensnared in their funnel-shaped webs, such as flies, small moths, and other crawling insects.
Behavior Patterns
Grass spiders are known for building distinctive funnel-shaped webs, often in grass, dense vegetation, or corners of structures. They wait at the narrow end of the funnel for prey to become trapped, then rush out to capture it. They are generally shy and non-aggressive.
Risks & Benefits
Grass spiders are not considered dangerous to humans. Their venom is not medically significant, and bites are rare and typically result in only mild, localized irritation. They are beneficial in the ecosystem as predators of various pest insects, helping to control insect populations.
