Milial cysts are small, benign cysts that form when keratin (a protein found in skin, hair, and nails) becomes trapped beneath the surface of the skin. They are typically slow-growing and do not usually cause pain or discomfort. They can occur at any age, from infancy (neonatal milia) to adulthood.

Risks & Benefits

Milial cysts are generally harmless and do not pose any significant health risks. They are considered a cosmetic concern by some. There are no known benefits. Treatment is usually for cosmetic reasons and can include extraction by a dermatologist or various topical treatments.
