Behavior Patterns

Larvae are avoidant of light and prefer dark crevices; adults are attracted to light and often fly toward windows. They undergo a complete metamorphosis.

Risks & Benefits

Known pests that can damage clothing, carpets, and upholstery. While they do not bite humans, the hairs on larvae can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in some people.
