Carpet beetle larva (likely varied carpet beetle)

Homes, especially carpets, closets, upholstery, and areas containing lint or natural fibers; also found outdoors on flowers.

Larvae consume keratin-rich materials such as wool, fur, feathers, silk, and dead insects. Adults mainly feed on pollen and nectar and do not damage fabrics.

Larvae are slow-moving, brown and hairy, and may wander from food sources before pupating. They hide in dark, undisturbed areas and shed bristly skins as they grow.

They can damage clothing, carpets, and stored natural-fiber materials; larval hairs may cause mild skin or respiratory irritation. Adults pollinate flowers, and larvae help recycle animal-derived debris.
