Natural Habitat

Deciduous forests, parks, and gardens; commonly found on oak, elm, and citrus trees.

Herbivorous larva; feeds on the leaves of various trees and shrubs including oak, maple, and hibiscus.

Behavior Patterns

Moves in a slow, slug-like fashion. It produces a cocoon that can remain on twigs for long periods, emerging as the Southern Flannel Moth.
