Globular springtail (likely)

Moist leaf litter, soil, moss, compost, and damp surfaces; often found indoors near humidity or decaying organic matter.

Feeds mainly on fungi, algae, bacteria, and decaying organic material rather than blood or living tissue.

Wingless and moisture-dependent, it commonly jumps using a forked abdominal furcula when disturbed. It reproduces in damp organic substrates and may aggregate in large numbers.

Harmless to people, pets, clothing, and stored food; it does not bite or parasitize humans. It contributes to decomposition and nutrient cycling, though indoor infestations can indicate excess moisture.
