Plaster Bagworm

Natural Habitat

Typically found inside residential buildings and homes, especially in humid climates, on walls and in closets or under furniture.

Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on spider webs, wool, human hair, and silk. They may also consume synthetic fibers if they contain organic spills.

Behavior Patterns

The larva constructs a protective silk case covered in sand, dust, and lint (the "bag"). It can pull its head and legs inside if threatened or turn around within the case to emerge from either end. The life cycle complete in approximately 60 to 70 days.

Risks & Benefits

They are considered minor household pests as they can damage natural fiber clothing and fabrics. They pose no physical health risk to humans or pets but indicate the presence of spider webs and high indoor humidity.
