Unidentified biting insect; possibly bed bug

Bed bugs hide in mattress seams, bed frames, upholstery, cracks, and luggage, emerging mainly at night. The image shows bites rather than the insect, so identification is not definitive.

Blood-feeding ectoparasites that consume human and animal blood; they do not eat fabric or skin.

Nocturnal and attracted to warmth and carbon dioxide. Bites may appear as itchy red bumps in clusters or lines, but bite patterns alone cannot reliably identify the cause.

They are not known to transmit major human diseases but can cause intense itching, allergic reactions, secondary infection, anxiety, and infestation. No meaningful ecosystem benefit exists in homes.
