Bed bug (likely a recently fed adult)

Mattress seams, bed frames, furniture crevices, baseboards, and nearby fabric folds in human dwellings.

Feeds exclusively on blood, primarily from humans but occasionally other warm-blooded animals. It usually feeds at night and withdraws into hiding afterward.

Flightless, nocturnal, and adept at hiding; adults, nymphs, and eggs can persist in cracks and be transported in luggage or furniture. Females lay eggs in sheltered crevices, and infestations can spread gradually.

Bites may cause itchy welts, allergic reactions, and sleep disruption, but bed bugs are not established vectors of disease. They provide little meaningful ecological benefit in homes.
