Order & Family: Araneae: Agelenidae
Size: Body length 10-20 mm; females are typically larger than males.

Natural Habitat
Commonly found in low shrubs, tall grass, and around building foundations where they build funnel-shaped webs.
Diet & Feeding
Carnivorous; they feed on various small insects that land on their non-sticky funnel webs.
Behavior Patterns
They are lightning-fast runners that hide in the tube of their funnel web until they detect vibrations from prey. They do not use sticky silk to trap prey, relying instead on speed.
Risks & Benefits
Benefits the ecosystem by controlling insect populations. They are not aggressive towards humans; their venom is not medically significant, and their chelicerae are often too small to easily pierce human skin.
