Natural Habitat

Omnivorous; feeds on decaying plant matter, flowers, tender leaves, small insects, and insect eggs.
Behavior Patterns
Mostly nocturnal and hides during daylight. Females guard and groom their eggs and nymphs; the forceps-like cerci are used in defense, courtship, and handling food.
Risks & Benefits
Harmless to people and does not infest or reproduce in human ears; its pincers can give a mild, nonvenomous pinch. It helps decompose organic matter and may control aphids, but can damage seedlings, flowers, and fruit.
