Case-bearing clothes moth larva (likely)

Indoor, dark undisturbed areas such as closets, carpets, upholstery, and stored textiles.

Larvae eat keratin-containing materials, including wool, fur, feathers, hair, and dried insect remains. Adults do not feed on fabrics.

The larva lives inside a spindle-shaped, fiber-covered case that it enlarges as it grows, and it retreats into the case when disturbed. Pupation occurs within or near the case; adults are weak fliers and avoid light.

Larvae can damage natural-fiber clothing, carpets, and taxidermy, but they do not bite people or transmit disease. They contribute to decomposition by consuming animal-derived fibers.
