Yellow houseplant mite (likely broad mite)

Moist, warm plant foliage, especially on houseplants, greenhouse crops, and garden plants. The pictured object may also be a shed skin or mite-associated debris, as mites are usually much smaller than this image suggests.

Plant-feeding; it pierces plant tissues and sucks cell contents from young leaves, buds, and shoots.

Lives mainly on plant growing points and spreads through plant contact, tools, clothing, or airflow. Infestations cause distorted, curled, bronzed, or stunted new growth.

Harmless to people, pets, and structures, but can seriously damage ornamental and crop plants. Remove affected growth, isolate the plant, and use an appropriate labeled miticide or horticultural oil.
