The larvae feed on wool, silk, hair, felt, and spider webs, often consuming dead organic matter and animal fibers.
Behavior Patterns
The larva constructs a protective silk case covered in dust, sand, or debris and carries it while it moves. Once fully developed, it attaches the case to a vertical surface to pupate.
Risks & Benefits
A minor household pest that can damage natural fiber textiles; however, they pose no direct health risk to humans or pets and are beneficial for recycling organic detritus in some environments.
