Natural Habitat
Typically found inside residential buildings on walls, floors, and under furniture with moderate humidity.
Diet & Feeding
Larvae feed on spider webs, wool, human hair, dust, and silk from other insects.
Behavior Patterns
The larva builds a protective silk case covered in sand, dust, and debris. It can emerge from either end of the case to feed or crawl. They pupate inside the case before emerging as small, brown-gray moths.
Risks & Benefits
Generally considered a nuisance pest. They do not bite or sting, but they can damage wool garments and silk items if present in large numbers.
