Natural Habitat

Typically found inside residential buildings on walls, floors, and under furniture with moderate humidity.

Diet & Feeding

Larvae feed on spider webs, wool, human hair, dust, and silk from other insects.

Behavior Patterns

The larva builds a protective silk case covered in sand, dust, and debris. It can emerge from either end of the case to feed or crawl. They pupate inside the case before emerging as small, brown-gray moths.

Risks & Benefits

Generally considered a nuisance pest. They do not bite or sting, but they can damage wool garments and silk items if present in large numbers.
