Springtail (probable)

Moist soil, leaf litter, compost, decaying vegetation, and damp indoor areas such as bathrooms or plant pots.

Feeds mainly on fungi, algae, bacteria, decaying organic matter, and microscopic plant material; it does not bite or suck blood.

Often occurs in groups in humid places and may jump using a forked abdominal furcula when disturbed. Populations increase with moisture and decline in dry conditions.

Harmless to people, pets, buildings, and stored food; household infestations indicate excess moisture rather than damage. They recycle organic matter and help regulate fungi and microbes in soil.
