Larvae feed on keratin-rich materials such as wool, fur, feathers, hair, dead insects, and natural-fiber textiles. Adults mainly consume pollen and nectar.

Larvae are slow-moving, hairy, and often shed bristles and skins; they may remain concealed for months. Adults are active near windows and flowering plants.
