German cockroach nymph

Warm, humid indoor areas, especially kitchens, bathrooms, appliances, and wall voids. This specimen appears on a dusty wooden surface.

Omnivorous scavengers feeding on crumbs, grease, starches, pet food, dead insects, and organic debris.

Mostly nocturnal, fast-running, and strongly attracted to warmth, moisture, and food. Females carry an egg case until shortly before hatching, allowing populations to increase rapidly.

They can contaminate food and surfaces and mechanically spread bacteria, while their shed skins and droppings may trigger allergies or asthma. They provide minor ecological value as decomposers, but indoor infestations warrant sanitation and targeted control.
