Bed bug (likely nymph)

Mattress seams, bed frames, upholstered furniture, cracks, and other sheltered indoor locations near sleeping hosts.

Feeds exclusively on blood, mainly from humans but also other warm-blooded animals. It pierces skin with specialized mouthparts and feeds for several minutes.

Mostly nocturnal, hiding during daylight and emerging in response to host heat and carbon dioxide. Females lay eggs in protected crevices; infestations spread through luggage, clothing, and furniture.

Bites cause itchy welts and allergic reactions in some people, but bed bugs are not known to transmit disease routinely. They provide little meaningful ecological benefit indoors.
