Three-host life cycle involving questing behavior on vegetation to latch onto passing hosts. Can survive for several years without feeding.

Risks & Benefits

Potential risk to humans and animals as a primary vector for Rocky Mountain spotted fever and tularemia. No significant ecosystem benefits to humans.
