Natural Habitat
Dark, undisturbed areas within human dwellings, such as closets, chests, or under baseboards where natural fibers are stored.
Diet & Feeding
Animal-based natural fibers including wool, silk, fur, feathers, and leather; they specifically digest keratin.
Behavior Patterns
Larvae spin silken tunnels or mats (webbing) while feeding. They avoid light and prefer high humidity. The adult moths do not feed and are weak fliers.
Risks & Benefits
Significant risk of localized property damage to clothing, upholstery, and carpets. They provide no direct benefit to humans and are considered a common household pest.
