Plaster Bagworm

Natural Habitat

Indoor environments, particularly in humid areas like bathrooms and kitchens, or on exterior walls.

Diet & Feeding

The larvae feed on spider webs, wool, human hair, fur, and silk.

Behavior Patterns

Larvae construct a protective silk case flattened in the middle, resembling a pumpkin seed or diamond. They move slowly by extending their head and thorax out of the case. They typically pupate inside the same case attached to a wall.

Risks & Benefits

They are considered a minor household pest. They can cause damage to woolens or silks but are generally harmless to humans and are easily controlled by reducing humidity and removing spider webs.
