Human flea (likely)

Homes, carpets, bedding, upholstery, and animal resting areas; adults live on hosts while immature stages develop in surrounding debris.

Adults feed exclusively on blood, biting humans and many mammals. Larvae consume organic debris, including dried blood in adult flea feces.

Wingless, laterally flattened, and highly capable of jumping; adults rapidly move through hair or fabric. Females lay eggs on hosts, which commonly fall into the environment and develop through larval and pupal stages.

Bites cause itchy, irritated welts and may trigger allergic dermatitis; fleas can transmit pathogens and occasionally serve as vectors for diseases such as murine typhus. They have little direct ecological benefit in homes but are prey for other organisms.
